Hawaii State Retired Teachers Association

The Hawaii State Retired Teachers Association (HSRTA) serves the general interests of retired educators in Hawaii. Membership is open to retired educators and school personnel, as well as anyone interested in education.

Founded in 1955, HSRTA is composed of four units, one each on the islands of Kauai, Maui, Hawaii Island and Oahu. The individual units implement a variety of planned activities such as advocacy support to protect retiree benefits, volunteering with youth, providing support for new teachers, funding scholarships for at risk youth and many other community-based initiatives. HSRTA is an affiliate of NRTA: AARP’s Educator Community.

Membership dues are just $ 15.00 per year. Our member newsletter, Ka Malamalama, is published quarterly. Members are encouraged to attend our annual convention which is held in February.
