NASD's liberal alternative work arrangement programs provide employees with superior work flexibility. 100 percent of NASD's employees take advantage of options such as flextime, compressed work schedules, job sharing, position sharing, and telecommuting.

- Recruiting: NASD uses senior placement agencies to recruit applicants for available positions.
- Workplace Culture/Continued Opportunities: As a result of information provided from employee focus groups, the company has added a backup family care program, extended military pay and benefits from 3 months to 12 months, conducted periodic retirement planning seminars, created new wellness programs such as weight watchers on-site, aerobics, health risk assessments on-line, monthly lunch and learn health related sessions, and fitness facility discounts. NASD offers tuition assistance to full-time employees.
- Benefits/Health: Employees pay 8 percent of the individual health insurance and prescription drug premium, and 13 percent of the employee and family health insurance and prescription drug premium. Part time employees must work a minimum of 20 hours per week to be eligible for these health benefits. Short term disability is covered by the company in full while long term disability is paid by the employee at 100 percent.
- Benefits/Financial: NASD offers a defined benefit and defined contribution plan to its employees. 401(k) match is 100 percent up to 4 percent of base pay. The company also offers a discretionary match up to 2 percent on the 5th and 6th percent contribution of base pay. Pre-retirement planning seminars are offered to employees and their spouses.
- Retirees: The company has a designated employee with a direct responsibility for retiree relations and provides a regular channel of communication with retirees. The company also provides its retirees with ongoing access to retirement planning workshops/information. Retirees are offered the following employment opportunities: temporary work assignments, consulting or contract work, telecommuting, and part time and full time work.
- Age of Workforce: Eighteen percent of the company's employees are 50+. Nine percent of the company's past twelve month new hires are 50+.
