If you’re looking for a way to give something back, enjoy new challenges, and are not afraid of taxes or computers or learning something new – we’ve got just the opportunity for you.

AARP Tax-Aide, an AARP Foundation program, is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service.

We are looking for volunteers in Kansas who are willing to be trained by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to prepare tax returns for Kansans with a focus on those with low-to-moderate incomes and those who are 60 and older. The program helps recipients have more discretionary income for everday essentials, such as food and housing, by assisting with tax services and ensuring they receive applicable tax credits and deductions such as the food sales tax and homestead tax credits.

Each year AARP Tax-Aide volunteers assist more than 30,000 Kansas taxpayers at sites all across the state prepare and file their returns. Tax-aide volunteers receive free training and are reimbursed for qualified program-related expenses.

“We have a critical need for AARP Tax-Aide volunteers, especially in rural parts of our state,” said AARP State Director Maren Turner. “The help these volunteers provide to the citizens of our state and in their communities leaves a lasting mark.

Maybe you think you’re not right for this volunteer opportunity but know someone who is? Be sure to pass this information on to them.
