That means it's Tax-Aide time, too! AARP's Tax-Aide Program, a partnership between the AARP Foundation and the Internal Revenue Service, provides free tax counseling and preparation services to middle- and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to individuals age 60+. Last year, 78,318 Ohioans were served by 1,261 volunteer tax counselors at 396 sites statewide.
For the 2003 tax filing season, which runs through April 15, Ohio's Tax-Aide Program has several improvements. This year, more sites will be equipped to do electronic filings resulting in faster refunds. And in some sites, the hours have been expanded into the evening to accommodate taxpayers who work during the day.
So, how do you get help from AARP Tax-Aide?
- AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are available through April 15 at nearly 400 sites throughout Ohio. To locate a site near you, search online or call our toll-free number 1.888.AARPNOW.
- Online Tax Assistance is available year round through AARP's Tax-Aide Web site.
