The cost of prescription drugs can create financial burdens for many older Americans, particularly those with low incomes. To ease the financial burden of prescription drugs for this population, a number of states have implemented pharmacy assistance programs that are designed to help the non-Medicaid low income population to obtain the medications they need but cannot afford.
