Someone Wants To Steal Your Good Name

In the last five years, 27 million Americans have had their identities stolen. The aftermath is aggravation, confusion and hours of wasted time. You, too, could be a victim of identity theft. It occurs when someone pretends to be you, using your Social Security number, your credit cards and your bank account numbers to borrow money, open new credit card accounts or charge thousands of dollars to buy cars, clothes or vacations.
N.D. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem and Consumer Protection Division Director Parrell Grossman will tell you about the many inventive ways identity thieves can get your personal information. Learn how to safeguard your credit and your good name. You'll also learn about a new North Dakota law allowing you to "freeze" your credit.
Divided We Fail: Join AARP's Voices for Change
A generation ago, Americans could look forward to retirement. Now, they're not sure what to expect. Here in North Dakota, 56 percent of people age 65 and older depend on Social Security just to stay above the poverty line. Eleven percent of all North Dakotans can't afford health insurance, let alone save for retirement. At the same time, only about one-third of Americans believe that the next generation will have a better quality of life than their parents had.
That's why AARP has launched Divided We Fail, a major, long-term public outreach campaign designed to amplify the voices of Americans who believe that health and long-term financial security are the most pressing domestic issues facing our nation. Hear more about Divided We Fail and how you can contribute to the initiative and make a difference.
