AARP Michigan is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all as we age. A great service we offer that many people are not aware of is access to AARP information and services through the Detroit Information Center.
Quality consumer information and referral services are available to both AARP members and the general public at the Detroit Information Center, located at Hannan House, 4750 Woodward Avenue—Room 404, in Detroit. The volunteers at the Information Center work to ensure people have the information they need to make educated choices in their lives, either from AARP experts or by connecting them with other sources of trusted information.
The Detroit Information Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Trained AARP volunteers are working in the Information Center each day. They are on duty to help you with your questions.
Free consumer publications and information on AARP programs, services and volunteer opportunities are available including information on topics such as:
- AARP Membership Benefits
- Financial Security in Retirement
- Social Security Benefits
- Health Insurance Options
- Independent Living
- Employment for Older Workers
- Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud
- Tax Aide and Driver Safety Programs
- Local community resources for people over age 50
AARP members who live in the Detroit area, or who are visiting Detroit, are encouraged to stop by the Information Center during these hours, or a volunteer is always available by phone at (313) 832-6846 during business hours as well. You can also submit questions to the Information Center via email at midetriot@aol.com.
Information on AARP programs is also available by calling 1-866-227-7448.
