Don’t Touch That! A Nest Egg Rap

MC Hammer's classic gets a funny update with a good-natured reminder

If you've been paying attention to your finances, by middle age it's sitting right there, ripe for the taking: your nest egg. That 401(k), pension or home equity may be the basis for your future economic well-being, but there's also the powerful temptation to plug into it right now.

In a new animation, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and animator Walt Handelsman explores the lighter side of that dilemma to the rhythm of MC Hammer's hip-hop classic "U Can't Touch This."

Handelsman introduces us to a boomer couple who fantasize about kicking back and enjoying the rest of their lives together, but always with the realization that making that dream come true requires preserving their nest egg.

"I wanted to do a fun thing about all the pressures we put on ourselves," says Handelsman. "We want the trip, we want the car, but in the end, our lives will be less anxiety-filled if we leave that money alone."
