Looking for a new car? You'll generate more green-with-envy stares — and as a result more greenbacks come trade-in time — if you choose a silver, white or black vehicle. "Cars in those popular colors are certainly easier to sell," says Paul Taylor, chief economist at the National Automobile Dealers Association. And they can fetch about $300 more in trade-in compared to similar models in red, blue, green or yellow. If you're buying, you can save up to $1,000 on some pre-owned models in less popular colors. DuPont reports that white is the number one car color, closely followed by black and silver. All three colors are also preferred by car thieves.
