Chances are, you've never heard of a Life Options Center. But if you're retired and "looking around," you may want to check one out.

Life Options Centers are new–there less than a handful so far but many are in the works nationwide. Developed by the nonprofit organization Civic Ventures, these centers offer guidance for the next stage in life to people 50+. Coaches tap into special interests and abilities and hook them up with local resources for work, community service, or education.

"Life Options Centers help bring together a talented, experienced group to make a difference in society," says Margaret Newhouse, a retired teacher and life options coach.
