Join us on May 10 for AARP's Day of Service
AARP has a deep, long-standing commitment to community-based volunteer service through programs such as driver education and tax preparation. AARP chapters, local groups of AARP members, have been serving communities nationwide for over 40 years.
Our "Day of Service" was born in the aftermath of 9/11 as an avenue for our members, volunteers and staff to direct their heartfelt desires to reach out to those in need and just "help." It has since evolved into an annual declaration of the power of community-based service, of the power of just one person to make a difference.
What can you do?
You can clean up your neighborhood, visit with an elderly neighbor, take your unused blankets to the local animal shelter, or drop off a sack of canned goods at your local food bank. Make it a family affair and involve the kids and grandkids.
Our AARP Colorado State Office will be teaming up with Denver's Rebuilding Together to repair the home of a low-income elderly homeowner. If you are interested in working with us on this project, contact Jeremiah Mora at (866) 554-5376.
Whatever project you decide to take on, we would love to hear about it. Please take a moment to email us or write us a letter sharing your experience and send to AARP, 1301 Pennsylvania St., Suite 200, Denver, CO 80203. We have a nice thank you to send you in return.
Renew your spirit—invest in your community—you CAN make a difference!
