For Americans trying to buy their medications at the lowest prices possible here at home, the following may be helpful:

  • Ask your doctor if a lower-cost generic version of your medication is available and suitable to your needs.

  • BenefitsCheckUpRx, run by the National Council on the Aging, enables Americans age 55 and over to quickly determine their eligibility for help from community, state or federal programs or from drug companies that offer free products or discount cards.

  • Veterans Affairs (VA) provides prescription drugs at low copayments to eligible veterans in its health care program. Call (877) 222-8387 or your nearest VA facility (check blue pages of phone book).
