Money Management Project

The Money Management Project offers money management service to low income elderly residents of the District of Columbia who find it difficult to budget or simply pay routine bills and keep track of their financial matters. The program uses non-attorney volunteers to assist individuals who do not have friends or relatives able to help.
The goal is to enable these fragile elderly to continue to live in the community. The volunteers receive special training and develop an ongoing relationship with the individual in need of assistance. LCE administers the program for D.C., and LCE staff and other volunteers monitor the bank accounts to make certain that the clients’ funds are properly expended. LCE’s program was the original one of its kind, and has been replicated throughout the country.
