The AARP Foundation continues to make a difference on the Gulf Coast region with disaster relief and recovery grants to over 40 local agencies. These agencies are serving older victims of recent hurricanes who have been displaced, or have health, legal or other needs.
Grantees include state and local organizations as well as national organizations such as Rebuilding Together, Boat People SOS, and the National Housing Law Project. As the Gulf Coast begins to recover and rebuild, the AARP Foundation will continue to support state, local and national agencies with grants made from its Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. In total, the Foundation has donated nearly $1.6 million to organizations operating on the ground in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
Make a difference today. Donate.
The AARP Foundation made an initial allocation of $1 million to the fund, with AARP matching contributions up to an additional $1 million. Your donations can make a difference today and may continue to do so far into the future, as we work with local agencies to extend services to the many older hurricane victims still in need of our help.
