Energy assistance—help with paying fuel bills—is available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia for low-income residents. Energy assistance is available from many sources, but most comes from money given by the U.S. Congress to each state for distribution. Each state receives a specific amount of funding and must divide it among eligible households.
