Get the Facts. Use the Power. Vote

Source: AARP.org | July 1, 2004

For the record, AARP is nonpartisan and does not own a political action committee (PAC), endorse political candidates or contribute money to political parties or political candidates' campaigns. Our goal is to help educate our members, their families and the general public about issues of concern to Americans 50+.

And, here in Delaware, we'll focus on the issues important to you. Here's what's going on in the First State this fall.

September 22
Get the Facts with AARP's Voters' Guides for Delaware's legislative races available online by September 22.

So, what's an AARP Voters' Guide? AARP asks the candidates key questions about issues important to our members. Each candidate is allowed up to 100 words to answer the question. AARP does not edit or modify the answers. In addition, we provide a summary of our position for each of the issues. See for yourself where Delaware's potential legislative leaders really stand.

Where do our national candidates stand? Get the Facts.

Host an AARP Presidential Debate Watch Party. You can bring your friends and other AARP members together in an informal setting to watch our nation's first presidential debate. Watch the nation's top candidates' debate, and then discuss how you think the candidates responded to the questions on issues important to AARP—while feasting on AARP popcorn and Martha's cookies.

To host an event in your home, you'll need an AARP Presidential Debate Watch Party Kit. In your kit you'll find:

  • A tip sheet on how you can host a successful debate party
  • Fill-in-the-blank invitations
  • The " Questions anyone who would be president should answer " sheet with a key for AARP ' s position
  • An Election 2004 Presidential Debate Journal to take notes while you watch
  • A recipe card for " A sweet treat from America ' s first lady " — Martha Washington ' s Cookies
  • AARP popcorn to serve during the event

If you have fun acting as a "pundit" with the first debate, you can host three more parties this election season. You can see the vice presidential candidates square off on October 5. Then, the nation's top candidates return on October 8 and October 13 for two final rounds of debate activities.

To request your own AARP Presidential Debate Watch Party Kit, call 1.800.687.2277 and ask for EEO1662.
