Tell Us About Your Second Career

bicycle repairman as second career

Have you found your dream job by starting a second career? Tell us about it and inspire others. — Istock

The opportunities are endless for people ready to change careers, and AARP is out to prove it!

We are gathering stories of people who retired from long-held careers and started on a fresh work path. And we want to hear your story too. Your experiences can help inspire millions of people who are thinking of making a similar job shift, or returning to the workplace. So whether you’ve gone from banker to bicycle repairman, nurse to yoga instructor, or plumber to professor, your tale can spark countless others to pursue their dreams — or simply find a job that they can enjoy more.

How to get involved? Email us at secondcareers@aarp.org. Here’s what to include:

  • Your name and age
  • Your city and state
  • What is your second career?
  • What led you to this new career?
  • Annual compensation
  • What was your first career?
  • Your email and phone number
  • And if possible, a photo of yourself! We would most prefer a headshot that was taken in the past two years.

We will NOT share any details or photos you provide without first contacting you. So get involved and tell your story — who knows how many Americans you might inspire!
