Françoise Forette

Professor Françoise Forette, co-chair of the Alliance for Health & the Future, is also president of the International Longevity Centre - France, professor of internal medicine and geriatrics at the University of Paris V and president of the board of directors at Hôpital Broca. Professor Forette is a board member of the Red Cross in France and since 2001 she has served as an elected advisor for the City of Paris.

Professor Forette's other principal positions include director of the French National Foundation of Geriatrics and Gerontology and president of the scientific board of the Alzheimer's Association in France. In addition, she is a member of the 324 INSERM Research Unit on Neuropsychology of Pathological and Normal Ageing.

Professor Forette's particular areas of interest and expertise include the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, hypertension in the elderly and risk factors for dementia. Since 1989 Professor Forette has been project leader for the Syst-Eur Vascular Dementia Project, a European study into the long-term effects of antihypertensive therapy on the incidence of dementia.

Professor Forette was a member of the World Health Organisation Expert Advisory Panel on Health in the Elderly from 1984 to 1998 and a member of the AMM Commission (the French equivalent of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) from 1984 to 1986, and again from 1994 to 2000.

Professor Forette is an editorial board member of Aging-Clinical and Experimental Research and has authored more than 230 scientific publications.
