Peter Greenberg: Amtrak Discounts

I have learned that Amtrak has a lot of discount codes that it doesn't list on its Web site. I have come across a few Web sites that publish some of the codes, but I haven't found a site that publishes all valid codes. Where can I find a comprehensive listing of Amtrak discount codes and their expiration dates?

We haven’t found one site that we would consider the “best” or the final authority on Amtrak-discount codes, but there are a few that are helpful in this regard.
One is: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/amtrak.com.

The nice thing about Retail Me Not is that there are plenty of comments and feedback from people actually trying to use the discounts. In fact, there’s even a “success rate” for each discount from the people who’ve tried to use that particular coupon.

Here’s another site that’s also updated frequently, although it doesn’t have as much in the way of feedback: http://www.railserve.com/amtrak_coupons.html.

Before you book on Amtrak, do give these sites a look to see if there are any discounts you might be able to use. And don’t forget that Amtrak offers a 15-percent discount to people over 62 all year-round.
