A friend and I are trying to get to Greenland next summer. We would like to fly into either Nuuk or Kangerlussuaq. We aren’t finding the information we need on travel Web sites. What is the least expensive and most direct way to get to Greenland from the East Coast of the United States? Thanks.

Unfortunately, the direct flight from Baltimore to Kangerlussuaq on Air Greenland has been canceled due to the rise in fuel prices. These days, the main way to get to Greenland is to take flights that originate in either Denmark or Iceland.

To get to Iceland, Air Iceland provides flights from Boston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Fla., and New York to Reykjavik (Keflavík Airport). From there you can grab a flight to Nuuk on the west coast of Greenland.

To get to Denmark, SAS provides flights from Newark, N.J., Washington, Chicago, and Seattle to Copenhagen. Delta Air Lines also offers a flight to Copenhagen from Atlanta, and Continental Airlines from Newark, N.J. From there you will be able to take flights through Air Greenland to both Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq.
