I would like to find a tour of Israel especially for singles, not to party, but no kids. I have never been. What is the coolest and driest time of year? Thank you for any information you can provide.
–Anita, Decatur, Ga.

Except for its Mediterranean coast, Israel is largely desert. The country has two main seasons: Winter, from November to March, is cold and rainy in most parts of the country, with January being the coldest month (mid-40s); and summer, from April to October, is hot and dry with little or no rainfall. September is usually the driest month.

Here are three travel sites that provide information on tours of Israel:

The first one, Momentum Tours and Travel, is specifically designed for single women. Included in the tour is a visit to the lively marketplace of Nahalat Binyamin (featuring an abundance of arts, crafts, and street performances), Neve Tzeddek, one of Tel Aviv's most beautiful enclaves, a tour of the Suzan Dellal Center for the Performing Arts, a Galilean spa, a visit to Mt. Scopus, and much more.

Another option is Gil Travel. This tour is specifically geared to singles age 30 to 50. Included in the itinerary are a jeep tour, an archaeological dig, a wine tasting, a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, a spa dinner at Hamat Gader Hot Springs, and a beduoin-style dinner with camel rides and drumming.

Gateway to Israel is a great travel Web site that allows you to customize your tour to fit your every need. Whether you are part of a large group, a family, or a single person visiting Israel, the guide will organize a tour especially for you. You have the option of designing a private tour, a scenic tour, a cultural tour, or even a wildlife tour. It is up to you.
