Are you allowed to bring knitting needles on board? I was allowed several years ago but am not sure now.
- Elizabeth, Dracut, Mass.

Great question, Elizabeth. Yes, as a general rule, you are allowed to bring knitting needles onboard the airplane.

If you'd like more information about what's prohibited and what's allowed on board, check the TSA's detailed, updated list online. They also have a section called "Traveling with Special Items" that gives more detailed information on transporting knitting needles.
