Is it better to travel by Greyhound or Amtrak (going from Miami to Chicago)?
-Yolanda, Miami, Fla.

On Greyhound, a one-way trip from Miami to Chicago will take about 34 hours and cost $162 for a refundable fare and $145 for a nonrefundable fare.

On Amtrak, there is not a direct route from Miami to Chicago, so you would have to go from Miami to Washington, D.C., and then take a different train from Washington, D.C., to Chicago. Prices range from $175 to $275. The total duration of the trip, including the time spent changing trains, can take between 39 and 50 hours, depending on the date, time, and schedule you choose.

In terms of the cost and duration of the trip from Miami to Chicago, Greyhound offers a faster route and a cheaper fare. Most consider traveling on Amtrak to be a more comfortable experience than Greyhound, since it's easier to get food and walk around. However, if you prefer to get to your destination faster and at a cheaper price, Greyhound is the better choice.
