My uncle (82 years old) is traveling to Ireland and England. He's very disappointed he can't rent a car. Is there any rental car service for him? Any other options?

While it's true that most rental car companies impose age restrictions in a few parts of Europe, including Ireland and England, these are not government-mandated limits, but rather insurance company-imposed restrictions.
There is actually one company that does rent cars, both in Ireland and in the U.K., to those over age 75, and that's Enterprise Rent-A-Car. As far as we can tell, that's the only major rental-car company that doesn't have age limits in Britain or Ireland.
