Planning a trip to China in July—internal flight schedules may not be available until mid March. Concern is getting from Yuching to Shanghai: Should I wait or go ahead and hope it will work out?
-Tema, Brielle, N.J

First of all, we’re not sure exactly what area of China you’re referring to—if you’re talking about the county of Yuqing (“Yu-ch’ing” being an alternative spelling) in the Guizhou province, you’re really going off the beaten path. To reach that area, you’ll want to use the airport in the provincial capital of Guiyang.

China Southern Airlines flies from there to Shanghai. They’ll sell you the tickets immediately at csair.com, but unfortunately, the Web site isn’t the most user-friendly one we’ve seen. So you may want to call their Los Angeles office at 323-653-8066 to book your tickets. From Guiyang, you’ll probably need to take a bus to Yuqing, and we don’t know of any way to book those tickets before you get to China. You are heading far outside tourist territory, so expect an adventure.
