Top Gamer Contest Official Rules

1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
2. Am I eligible to participate? Subject to the additional restrictions below, the AARP“Top Gamer”(the “Contest”) is open to all registered users of the AARP.org website who are (i) residents of one of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and (ii) eighteen years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of AARP (“Sponsor”) and its affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees, are not eligible to enter or to win. The term“immediate family members”includes spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren.
3. How do I enter? Each Monday by 5pm EST of each week during the Contest, the Sponsor will select and post a game on the AARP.org website (the“Featured Game”).  The winner of each week's Featured Game will be the registered user who achieves the top recorded score in the Featured Game as of the following Monday  at 3:00 PM (EST).  Participants must register on AARP.org for scores to be recorded and eligible for the Featured Game prize.   A registered user cannot be a winner in two consecutive Featured Games. In the event a registered user is the top recorded scorer in two consecutive Featured Games, the second highest score achieved by someone other than the previous Featured Game winner will be the winner of the second Featured Game. The Contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. (EST) on November 6, 2008 and will last for eight contest weeks ending at 3:01pm on December 29, 2008.The top recorded score for a Featured Game will be deemed to have been achieved by the owner of the e-mail account from which it is sent. Any questions regarding the Contest shall be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, and Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any participants determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest. The Featured Games of the Contest are not based on luck or chance. The probability of a participant winning a Featured Game is dependent on that participant’s ability and skill to play the Featured Game.Sponsor will not be responsible for limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with participant or Sponsor.
4. What can I win? The winner of each week’s Featured Game will win a $100 Amazon Gift Certificate. A total of eight (8) prizes will be awarded.
5. When will winners be notified? The winner of each Featured Game will be notified via the e-mail provided at registration within seventy-two (72) hours after he or she is selected as a winner. 
6. What other terms apply? Winners may waive their right to receive a prize. Prizes are non-assignable and nontransferable. No substitutions or cash equivalents allowed by winners. Prizes are subject to availability and Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes. Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes each contestant’s consent to the publication of his or her name, likeness, city and state of residence and biographical information in any media, including without limitation the Internet, for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation or further compensation. Any prize not claimed or waived by an eligible winner in accordance with these Official Rules will be awarded to the next highest top scorer in that week’s Featured Game.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsor. In the event the Contest is compromised by a virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
7. Who is the sponsor? The“Featured Games Contest”is sponsored by AARP. The decisions of Sponsor regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Contest.
8. How can I request a list of the winners or a copy of these rules? The Sponsor will post these Official Rules and the user names of the Top Gamer Contest winners on AARP.org.  For a list of the winners (available after December 31, 2008) or a copy of these Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to AARP “Top Gamer Contest,”AARP.org, 601 E Street, NW, Washington, DC 20049, Attn: Top Gamer Contest. Indicate whether you are requesting the list of winners, a copy of these Official Rules, or both.
