AARP is proud to be one of the signature sponsors of the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival, April 25 through May 6 in New York City. AARP members will receive an exclusive 15 percent discount on the Daytimer Pass, entitling the pass holder to attend all general screenings that begin prior to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and prior to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at all official festival screening venues.
The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff as a response to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
Conceived to foster the economic and cultural revitalization of Lower Manhattan through an annual celebration of film, music and culture, the festival's mission is to promote New York City as a major filmmaking center and help filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience.
The festival is anchored in Tribeca and takes place in additional neighborhoods throughout Manhattan. This year's festival boasts over 275 films from more than 40 countries, including narrative features, documentaries, shorts and the biggest Hollywood blockbusters.
And movies are just the beginning…
- The Family Festival Street Fair on Saturday, May 5th, will extend the celebration of the Tribeca Film Festival to the streets of New York City. There will be lots of great food from local Tribeca restaurants, games and crafts, photo opportunities, performances and storytelling, and appearances by the kids' favorite characters.
- Tribeca Talks panels offer compelling conversations and feature the biggest names in the industry.
- The Tribeca Music Lounge showcases top songwriters in an intimate setting.
- The Awards Show celebrates the best in emerging filmmaking.
