Legends of Jazz Tour: Education Initiative

AARP’s Education Initiative will provide young music students in 8 cities nationwide with the opportunity to learn about jazz and musicianship directly from jazz legend Ramsey Lewis. Local students in each Legends of Jazz Tour city will be invited to observe the sound check and watch Ramsey Lewis rehearse with his trio. After the sound check, the students have the opportunity to ask Ramsey one-on-one questions about his music, his influences, and his 50-year career as a composer and performer.
The goal of AARP Education Initiative is to reach out to youth (living in cities and suburbs), who will benefit from this unique program. Another goal of AARP Education Initiative is to work toward the common goal of educating future generations on the evolution of Jazz and its legends. The Legends of Jazz Tour / AARP Education Initiative will provide students with personal contact with a legendary jazz artist in an intimate setting; giving students an once-in-a-lifetime experience. As a consummate professional and great performer, Ramsey is the ideal spokesperson for jazz.
