Brainwashing a Captive Audience

They were called "trailers" because they once ran after the feature film, along with the cartoons and serials. Now they precede it, and movie studios spend vast sums of money to create these two-minute sensations to attract audiences to a movie's opening weekend. Often, these trailers contain the only two good minutes of the entire movie, but they nonetheless contribute to the movie's "sink or swim" success at the box office.
