Ringo Starr Biography
Ringo Starr, English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor, is perhaps best known for his musical career as the drummer for the Beatles from 1962–1970, although he has also enjoyed renown as a solo artist. Born in Liverpool in 1940, Starr became one of the most famous musicians of the 1960s for his work with the Beatles, both behind the drum set and out front as a periodic singer and composer of uplifting songs. After the group split up, Starr moved seamlessly into a solo career with the success of his 1973 album, “Ringo.” Starr has released many albums since, including “Goodnight Vienna,” “Time Takes Time,” and DVDs of live concerts. He has completed many tours with his All Starr Band. This summer, Ringo will be touring the United States and Canada with the 10th incarnation of his band, including shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. In January, Ringo released his first new album with Capitol/EMI since “Goodnight Vienna” in 1974; aptly titled “Liverpool 8,” it is available worldwide on CD and digitally on an innovative, pre-loaded USB wristband.
