Researching Your Health

Session 6 - Seminar Conclusion

You’ve taken a look at four highly-regarded Web sites that deal with medical matters. You’ve practiced researching medical condition, treatments, and drugs.

Now you’re ready to research your own health condition and prescription drugs and be a proficient manager of your health.

Here are two more tips and some additional resources.

Tip for Caregivers

Are you worried about how many drugs your older friend or parent is taking? Take action:

Enter all the drug names in the Check Interactions tool provided through the Healthfinder.gov Web site.

Print out the summary of potential interactions to discuss with the doctor.

Or, schedule a medicine “brown-bag” check-up.
A doctor or pharmacist reviews all the medicines that your loved one takes. They check for interactions, duplications, and safety. There may be a fee for this service.
