NICOA signs the Divided We Fail Platform

On December 5, 2007, Traci McClellan, Executive Director of the National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA), signed the Divided We Fail platform in Washington, D.C. NICOA is supporting Divided We Fail because it believes it is time for lawmakers to take action on affordable health care and lifetime economic security for American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and all Americans.
"NICOA believes that affordable, quality health care and lifetime financial security should be accessible to all Americans. That's why the Council is supporting the Divided We Fail effort," said McClellan. "Divided We Fail will build momentum for action on these critical issues and allow our members to be heard."
NICOA has advocated on behalf of American Indian and Alaskan Native Elders in policy and practice nationwide for over thirty years. NICOA was founded by members of the National Tribal Chairmen's Association who called for a national organization to promote improved, comprehensive health and social services for American Indian and Alaska Native Elders.
NICOA and its leaders are recognized by the White House and Congress for being the primary voice of American Indian and Alaska Native Elders as a whole.
