Divided We Fail: Florida

AARP and Divided We Fail launched a new round of advertisements Thursday in several television markets as part of the national Divided We Fail effort to help secure lifetime health and financial security. The ad congratulates President-elect Barack Obama and then asks the new president to "finally bring the change we need to Washington."

The television ad will air on CNN, MSNBC, Fox and TV One, telling President-Elect Barack Obama that Divided We Fail will work with him as he brings change to Washington and deals with the critical issues of health care and financial security.

"We congratulate President-elect Obama on his victory, said Lori Parham, AARP Florida state director. "The campaign is over, and now the real work begins. During the campaign, President-elect Obama talked about plans to ensure that all Americans could achieve health and financial security. Now we need these inspiring words to become bipartisan action."

Divided We Fail's and AARP's ads are part of a continued effort to ensure elected leaders deliver on their promises to address health care and financial security. The ads join a strong grassroots movement started by Divided We Fail last year.

AARP CEO Bill Novelli noted: "The people spoke clearly at the polls, and the one message we can take away from the results is that the country is looking for leadership to break through partisan gridlock and get things done. This country's problems, especially with regard to health and financial security, are far too big for one party to handle on its own--they require the ideas and support of both sides of the aisle."

The television ads debuted Thursday, Nov. 6, and will be followed by several online ads, highlighting a new Divided We Fail viral video.
