AARP Response to 12/13 Democratic Debate in Des Moines

The following is a statement from AARP Director of Media Relations Mark Kitchens on today’s Democratic debate in Des Moines, Iowa.

“Today we heard from the candidates how they would address the issues voters are concerned about, specifically health care.

“Our members in Iowa and across the nation are concerned about health and financial security; the latest poll of our members released this week reveals that nearly one in four Democrats in Iowa list health care as the top domestic issue they are concerned about. Additionally, many in Iowa and all over this country are facing a mortgage crisis and unstable real estate market that could impact their long-term financial security.

“We hope that in the remaining time between now and January 3, the candidates will continue to speak to the people about what they started to talk about today – how we can all find long-term financial security and health care we can rely on when we need it.”
