AARP Statement on 12/4 NPR Debate

The following is a statement from AARP Media Relations Associate Director Cecelia Prewett on the NPR Democratic debate.

"We have been following these debates since they began and it is disappointing that the candidates and these discussions have failed to focus on the nation's top domestic issues, health and financial security. These candidates are embarking on the most critical time of the campaign season and we can only hope they can begin to focus on kitchen table issues that impact the everyday lives of nearly every American.

"Another two hours lost for America's voters as the debates again missed the mark. In the news today, the Centers for Disease Control is reporting that one in five Americans cannot afford their health care, however this issue did not even scratch the surface of today's discussion. There are several debates left before many Americans will make their choices about the candidates, hopefully they will take the opportunity to talk about issues like health and financial security."
