On November 6, 2007, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) joined the Divided We Fail campaign, becoming a proud member of the movement to make access to affordable health care and long-term financial security key issues in the 2008 elections.

The AAFP joined Divided We Fail because the organization believes it is high time for lawmakers to work in a bi-partisan way to ensure all Americans have the affordable, quality health care they need and deserve.

"AAFP shares the belief that far too many Americans either don't have health care or their health care coverage is at risk," said AAFP President Dr. James King. "We at AAFP believe that by uniting forces with Divided We Fail supporters, we can make our voices heard and compel our nation's leaders to take action on these important American priorities."

The American Academy of Family Physicians is one of the largest national medical organizations, representing more than 94,000 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students nationwide. Founded in 1947, its mission has been to preserve and promote the science and art of family medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients of all ages.
