Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is the only member of the Obama cabinet to have supported Sen. John McCain for president. But as a testament to Mr. LaHood's expertise and bipartisanship, the president selected him to manage the Department of Transportation and the administration's policy going forward.
Changes in emphasis include placing livable communities initiatives--walking paths, bike lanes, and public transportation access near affordable housing--in better balance with the needs of drivers.
