Participation in Nevada’s Driver Safety Program Surges

More options to take the course now available

In Nevada alone, we’ve helped thousands of 50+ drivers refresh their knowledge of the rules of the road. This is important because older drivers, though safer drivers, have a higher incidence of fatalities per crash than younger people. An additional bonus of taking this course is a state-mandated discount which your car insurance company must provide for two years upon completion of the course.

Driver Safety courses are offered in many communities throughout the state.

Until 2009, AARP offered an eight-hour course; usually conducted over a two-day period. Feedback from participants suggested that though the course was excellent, the time commitment was significant. So AARP developed a four-hour course to appeal to the active and busy lifestyles of today’s course participants.

In 2010, the State approved AARP’s new online course for insurance discounts. These changes created more flexibility and opportunity for Nevada drivers and participation in AARP’s Driver Safety program course increased by 26% as a result.

In-Person Course Offered in Many Communities

For some, taking the course in a classroom environment is preferable. Nevada has many trained volunteers teaching courses in communities throughout the state who offer face-to-face courses for AARP’s Driver Safety Program. Those interested in signing up for a local course can also call 1-888-227-7669 for more information about the program in your community.

Volunteers and Host Sites Sought

AARP’s Driver Safety Program in Nevada is run entirely by volunteers. We train and pay mileage and minor expenses for our course instructors. It’s a great way to get involved in your community and help others.

Have meeting room space at your place of business or your community that you would consider donating to the program? Hosting is a great way to promote safe driving and give back to your community.

The Price is Right for Peace of Mind and Insurance Savings

The classroom course costs only $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. The cost for the online course is $15.95 for AARP members and $19.95 for nonmembers.
