Poll: Are You a Real Techie?

Special Recognition

After a full day spent evaluating the entries, the judges of the 2009 Livable Communities Awards chose four winners. The judges made it clear, however, that there were aspects of some of the other projects that deserved special recognition. So they decided to spotlight the following entries.

Architect/Community Design: Niles Bolton Associates in Atlanta, received special recognition for public and exterior spaces in the Towne Club Peachtree City project.

Developer, Up to 250 units: The Jericho Road Episcopal Housing Initiative was recognized for the neighborhood revitalization, community involvement, and affordability aspects of its 2324 Sixth Street Project in New Orleans.

Developer, Up to 250 units: Windsong Properties of Woodstock, Ga., was recognized for special effort to maximize street appeal and to provide step-free entries for homes in its Somerset project.

Developer, More than 250 units: Glacier Homes of Rathdrum, Idaho, received special recognition for affordability aspects of its Golden Spike Estates project, including a lot-lease program, smaller unit size footprint, and winter maintenance for all of the homes.

Remodeler, Up to $75,000: Stewardship Remodeling in Duvall, Wash., received special recognition for its combination of green building and universal design elements in a carport project.
