Twitter is a powerful network of information; its search will turn up all kinds of information from users you may not know. Facebook gives you a way to connect with friends and share a tremendous amount of information and images.

Google+ does both: It allows you to discover people you do not know, and to share content with people you want to see your content.

There are two main ways to start following people on Google+: searching for friends who are already using Google+, and searching for topics that interest you and finding people you want to follow to learn more about that topic. Once you start adding people into circles, your feed will fill with information. You can also just read specific circles one at a time if the home feed seems too busy.

It can take time to explore Google+ and get comfortable with the many ways to follow information and reshare. The best tip for enjoying Google+ is to just jump in and explore. You may find all kinds of resources you have never seen before.

Take a look at the AARP TEK step-by-step guide that gives recommended steps on how to dig in and start experiencing Google+. You can also learn how to use the social network’s popular webcam feature and more.
