San Antonio, Texas; Omaha, Neb.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Eau Claire, Wis.; Las Cruces, N.M.; Morgantown W.V.; Roanoke, Va.; Spokane, Wash. and Gainesville, Fla. were also named.
Each year, AARP The Magazine scours the country to find the best places to live for Americans 50-plus. With many readers still navigating tough economic times, the magazine’s editors looked for cities that offer affordable housing and a low cost of living, but also reasonably-priced luxuries: Museums, cultural offerings, hiking and biking trails, and other amenities that enrich life as we age. All for $100 a day, or an annual income of $36,500.
AARP Colorado was pleased that Grand Junction made the Top 10 list of places that are not just affordable, but are among the top for the quality of life, as AARP Colorado lead volunteer and 2011 Andrus Award recipient Bob Schneller will attest.
