    Umatilla Hill neighbors Paul Fischler and Roger Davis chat with Kathleen Holt, who stands in her yard. Endless opportunities help residents stay in touch, whether it's walking from the street to their cottage, porch-hopping or a planned get together in the common space. "People care about one another not in the sense of being nosy, but being back in a real neighborhood," says resident Dave Hundhausen.  Recently, a single woman had knee replacement surgery. Umatilla Hill residents cooked meals for her for two weeks and checked in on her frequently.
