When you complete the AARP Smart Driver Course, you receive a certificate that you can mail to your automobile insurance company to find out if you are eligible for a multiyear discount. A course completion certificate is valid for two to three years, depending on your state’s regulations (check with your auto insurance agent for details regarding your discount).
We understand that you or your auto insurance agent may misplace the certificate or require more than one copy, and may need to order a duplicate certificate.
If you need a duplicate certificate for the AARP Smart Driver classroom course, please follow these steps:
- Fill out the “How to Obtain a Replacement Certificate” form on page 110 of the Participant Guidebook you received in the course. If you no longer have your Participant Guidebook, you may download the form here.
- Mail the form, along with a check for $10 payable to AARP Driver Safety, to:

- Once the form and check are received, a duplicate certificate will be created and mailed to you within five to seven business days.
Note: If you took the AARP Driver Safety classroom course prior to Jan. 1, 2014, or you no longer have your Participant Guidebook, please contact AARP Driver Safety Customer Service at 866-732-4213 to request a duplicate certificate.
