Donna Schempp, LCSW, now semiretired, was the program director at Family Caregiver Alliance, a San Francisco nonprofit that helps caregivers find support. She also worked as a clinical supervisor and senior case manager at Jewish Family and Children's Services of the East Bay and as a social worker at the UCSF Memory and Aging Clinic.
A past president of the board of directors of Planning for Elders in the Center City in San Francisco and past chair of the ethics committee at Center for Elder Independence in Oakland, she has presented widely on caregiving and aging issues, working with the Department of Veterans Affairs on its caregiver program for vets of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, as well as presenting workshops for the American Society on Aging, Northern California Case Managers, Alabama TBI Association, Alzheimer's Association of Arizona and AARP, among other organizations.
She has a private therapy practice, specializing in working with clients over 50, and a consulting practice with agencies in the Bay Area.
