The old saying – a woman’s work is never done – has never been more true than it is today.

You’re working hard at the office, raising a family, maintaining a home and, hopefully, having some fun. But sometimes it seems there’s little time for you, and even less time to think beyond the day-to-day reality.
Fact is, especially if you’re over 40, it’s not too soon to think about the future. It’s not too soon to create a long-term life strategy for the days when work and child-rearing are behind you. Decisions you make today about home, finances, health and medical care can help you live your best life – in retirement, or whatever your life stage.
That’s why AARP has developed a free, new 52-page resource guide called “Decide. Create. Share: Planning for Your Long-Term Care”. Aimed at women in their 40s, 50s and 60s, the guide is packed with resources, checklists and worksheets. It is designed to help you:
- Decide what kind of future you envision for yourself
- Create a plan that will help you achieve your goals
- Share that plan with the important people in your life
The guide can help you find answers to important questions like: Will my home and community fit my needs in the future? How can I reduce my health risks? Who should know my health care wishes in an emergency? What is Medicare and what does it cover?
Melissa Seifert, Associate State Director at AARP Michigan, is responsible for the “Decide. Create. Share.” program. She says, “Taking the time to focus on your future is particularly important for women. We generally have more years to cover in our lifetimes, with fewer resources.” Women are also more likely to provide care to family and friends, and to need long-term care services.
The “Decide. Create. Share” resource guide is available at no cost in two forms. Find it online, or to order a printed copy of the guide, call AARP at 1-866-227-7448 or email Andrea Palmer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do you have a plan for your later years? It’s not too early to start. Think retirement planning is just about money? It’s about more than you might imagine. Want to live a safe, healthy and secure life no matter what your age? Think ahead. Order your copy of “Decide. Create. Share.” today.
