Project adviser for AARP’s Education and Outreach Health Team, Susan Lutz is on the Caregiving Advisory Panel.
Susan Lutz has worked in the field of aging for more than 25 years at both the local level as a program director for home and community-based services and at the national level as a program developer with the National Council on Aging.
She has worked in a variety of capacities to strengthen the capacity of communities to respond to an aging demographic. She has developed standards for senior centers and care managers, increased consumer-directed services under Medicaid, built intergenerational volunteer programs and spearheaded the development of an adult day services center.
At AARP, Lutz provides consumers with information and tools that will help them plan for a secure retirement. As a project adviser for the association's Education and Outreach Health Team, she is responsible for demystifying the areas of Medicare, Medicaid, caregiving and long-term care. Lutz has a master's degree in social work and a certificate in gerontology from the University of Michigan. For the past 10 years, she has also been a long-distance caregiver for her father and mother.
