Starting January 1, 2006, Medicare prescription drug plan providers will offer you the medications you need. This new program replaces your current drug coverage under Medicaid and will affect all Medicare eligible American Indian and Alaska Native Elders.
In November 2005, you will be automatically enrolled in a Medicare prescription drug plan. The Social Security Administration will cover the costs of the premiums, co-pays, and deductibles for your plan. Check with your local pharmacist to make sure your pharmacy participates in the prescription drug plan in which you are automatically enrolled. Many prescription drug plans exist, so please visit with your pharmacist to determine the best plan for your prescription drug needs.
It is important to visit with your pharmacy staff as soon as you receive notifications from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or the Social Security Administration about your prescription drug benefit.
