From AARP and The National Indian Council on Aging, Inc.

In November 2005, you will be enrolled in Extra Help available from the Social Security Administration to help cover the costs of the new Medicare Part D program that covers the medicine that your doctor gives you.

You will get a letter in the mail from the Social Security office that tells you about Extra Help. Please take this letter to your Indian health center to see your pharmacist and benefits coordinator, so they can help you pick a prescription drug plan.

In January 2006, your Indian health program will be working with the Medicare prescription drug plans to provide the medicines you need. This new program will affect all Medicare eligible American Indian and Alaska Native Elders.

Please help yourself, your family, and your community and visit your clinic to sign up!
