2009 Iowa Health Care Reform Issues Poll

The opinions of Iowa residents on health care reform issues were explored in an August 2009 survey commissioned by AARP.

The survey of voting AARP members in Iowa found that:

• Access to affordable, quality health care is at least somewhat important to 94 percent of respondents.
• Three-quarters of respondents believe it is important that Congress enact new policies in 2009 to improve the nation's health care system.
• More than three in four respondents support the federal government requiring health insurance companies to cover anyone who applies, even if they have a pre-existing condition.
