The opinions of Iowa residents on health care reform issues were explored in an August 2009 survey commissioned by AARP.
The survey of voting AARP members in Iowa found that:
- Access to affordable, quality health care is at least somewhat important to 94 percent of respondents.
- Three-quarters of respondents believe it is important that Congress enact new policies in 2009 to improve the nation's health care system.
- More than three in four respondents support the federal government requiring health insurance companies to cover anyone who applies, even if they have a pre-existing condition.
AARP commissioned RDD Field Surveys to conduct the telephone survey of 500 voting AARP Iowa members ages 50 and older. The survey was conducted during August 25-26, 2009. For more information, please contact Jennifer Sauer at 202-434-6207. (10 pages)
