AARP Health Guide is a new health information service that AARP is testing. This service is designed to help you plan an active role in managing your health.

On AARP Health Guide, you will find reliable, easy-to-use information about conditions and treatments; medications; medical tests; self-help groups; Medicare rights, benefits and options at the federal and state level; the importance of quality in healthcare and much more.

Quality Health Information You Can Rely On

In working with the U.S. National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, the AARP Health Guide provides you with access to authoritative information from the world's largest medical library.

You are also linked to resources on Medline Plus, offering information on more than 650 conditions, diseases, prevention and wellness topics including:

  • Slide shows with audio instructions and illustrations explaining health conditions and treatments
  • Healthcare provider directories
  • Clinical trials for new drugs and treatments
  • Alternative medicine information on treatments, conditions and supplements

AARP also licenses content from the following organizations for AARP Health Guide:

Healthwise ® Knowledgebase

The Healthwise ® Knowledgebase contains consumer-oriented information—comprehensive, current, evidence-based and medically-reviewed—to help you make decisions about your health. It offers easy-to-find and easy-to-understand information about conditions, diseases, medical tests, medications, treatment options and key decision points.

The Healthwise ® Knowledgebase also includes content from the National Cancer Institute, the National Organization for Rare Diseases, the American Self-Help Clearinghouse and Cerner Multum, Inc. Drug Reference. Healthwise ® Knowledgebase is accredited by URAC, a non-profit organization that evaluates health Web sites to ensure they deliver quality health content and services.

Medicare Rights Center* - Medicare Interactive Counselor

Medicare Interactive Counselor is a one-stop source of information about Medicare rights, options and benefits developed by the Medicare Rights Center, a national not-for-profit, consumer service organization dedicated to ensuring affordable healthcare for older adults and people with disabilities. Medicare Interactive Counselor uses scripts, case examples and FAQs to guide you to easy-to-understand information on Medicare coverage and gaps, low-income programs and prescription drugs.
